Common Jingle

Shell size to 52 mm; shell with irregular outline. Upper valve convex, strong, lower valve flat, delicate, with byssal opening near hinge. Color white, yellow, orange, silvery-gray, or blackish. Byssus is calcified and may be seen as small elongated-elliptical "columns" inside dead shells of other species.
