This interactive experience brings LIVE mollusks straight to you!

School presentations (K–5) focus on mollusk feeding, reproduction, and conservation and the importance of observing the natural world. Each student goes home with a shell guide and a local shell to start their very own collection! Kindergartners also receive a coloring book (while supplies last). We incorporate grade-specific Next Generation Sunshine State Standards curriculum objectives into each program. If you’re interested in having Mollusks on the Move at a middle or high school, please specify your presentation preferences with the Outreach Coordinator (contact below).

We also bring our live touch tanks to garden clubs, festivals, and other special events. A marine educator will be present to answer your guests’ questions about mollusks.

Price: $350 per visit

Scholarships are available for Title I schools in Lee and Collier Counties.

Additional Information:

  • Visits are currently available year-round (yes, even while we are closed for construction!) Scheduling is subject to staff availability.

  • We believe it’s important to learn how to say thank you! So each student is required to write a thank-you note to the donor who funded their experience. Donors love them!

To request a visit from Mollusks on the Move, please email Outreach Coordinator Leigh Gay at lgay@shellmuseum.org or call 239-395-2233.
