This interactive experience brings LIVE mollusks straight to you!
School presentations for grades K-5 focus on mollusk feeding, reproduction, and conservation and the importance of observing the natural world. School presentations for grades 6-12 are also available upon request.
Each student goes home with a local shell to start their very own collection! We incorporate grade-specific Next Generation Sunshine State Standards curriculum objectives into each program. If you’re interested in having Mollusks on the Move at a middle or high school, please specify your presentation preferences with the Education Coordinator (contact below).
We also bring our live touch pools to garden clubs, festivals, and other special events. A marine biologist will be present to answer your guests’ questions about mollusks.
Price: $350 per visit
Scholarships are available for Title I schools in Lee and Collier Counties.
Additional Information:
-
Visits are currently available year-round. Scheduling is subject to staff availability.
-
Each student is required to write a thank-you note to the donor who funded their experience. We believe it’s important to learn how to say thank you, and donors love them!
To request a visit from Mollusks on the Move, please email Jorden Falker at jfalker@shellmuseum.org or 239-347-5119.
You can help bring live mollusks to students by donating to our Adopt-A-Class Program!
