Accessibility and Special Needs

Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum provides programs, exhibits, services, and spaces that are accessible to all visitors. Our staff members are always happy to answer questions or provide assistance.

Captioning

All movies shown in our auditorium are closed captioned.

Food Allergies

Food and drinks (other than water) are not allowed in exhibit areas.

Mobility

• The entire Museum is accessible.

• The elevator serves both floors of the Museum.

• Restrooms are wheelchair friendly.

• A limited number of wheelchairs are available, free of charge, at the Front Desk.

 

Printed Materials

A social story book is available to prepare children for their visits and show what it's like to visit the Museum. Download our Covid-19 version here.

Quiet Spaces 

Staff members can recommend areas in the Museum that are typically quieter than others.

Service Animals

Service animals are always welcome. Pets and emotional support animals are prohibited.
