School Programs

For grades K-12 the Museum offers onsite field trips, online sessions, and the Mollusks on the Move outreach program in which educators visit schools with live mollusks. All offerings align with Florida Sunshine State education standards and can be adapted for Home School groups and summer camps.

The donor-funded Adopt-A-Class program provides funds for Title 1 schools, and other schools as resources permit, to access these programs at no cost and may also subsidize the cost of bus transportation to and from the Museum.

Mollusks on the Move

We bring the mollusks to your classroom! This hands-on experience introduces students to mollusks’ anatomy, growth, diet, life cycles, and their role in the ecosystem. Instruction includes touching live mollusks, shell identification, and interactive games. Sessions are 30-60 minutes depending on grade level and are generally offered September-November, January-April, and during the summer.

Field Trips to the Museum

Students explore aquariums of live mollusks and marine life, touch mollusks in touch pools, explore the Great Hall of Shells, and participate in fun and interactive activities. Sessions at the Museum are 2–2.5 hours and generally offered October-December and May.
