We look forward to welcoming you to the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum!

To maintain caution and care for visitors, staff, and volunteers – and as a primarily indoor public space – the Museum has in place these following steps and guidelines in response to COVID-19:

  • All staff members and all visitors (except those under the age of 6) are required to wear a mask or face covering while inside the Museum.

  • Hand sanitizer is available throughout the Museum.

  • We encourage regular hand washing. An extra hand washing station has been added near the Touch Pools.

  • Plexiglass barriers hang at the Front Desk, the Museum Store check-out, and at our Touch Pools.

  • The Museum practices high cleanliness standards with surfaces, with credit card pads, counters, railings, door handles, and elevator buttons cleaned and disinfected regularly.

  • Visitors may access our water bottle filling station and are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottles.

  • Guests and staff must maintain social distancing when accessing restrooms.
