Family Neritidae Neritina virginea (Linnaeus, 1758) Virgin nerite - 15 mm Shell globose, smooth, glossy, aperture D-shaped. Prietal area smooth, flat, with several small teeth-like projections on aperture edge. Color extremely variable, usually with a dark background and lines, spots, or flecks of lighter color. An intertidal species present in brackish water and mangrove habitats. |
